Overview

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is taking a far more aggressive approach to ensuring consumers receive fair value as part of the new Consumer Duty policy.

Due to be published this July, with an implementation deadline of April 2023, financial services firms need to act now to prepare for these impending changes. Failure to comply could result in significant fines against firms and individuals.

For financial services firms this means re-shaping businesses strategy, processes and culture to put customers at the heart of what they do – evidencing customer value as part of product governance, and robust data and insights to prove new rules are being met.

State of the nation

How is regulation transforming the financial sector and what will be the impact of the new Consumer Duty?

In our first session, we’ll share learnings from the last 12 months of regulatory change, looking at the impact of the increasingly interventionalist FCA on the insurance industry. We’ll reveal how regulation has transformed the competitive and consumer landscape for general insurance, and explore what the introduction of the Consumer Duty will mean for the rest of financial services sector.

Getting prepared

What steps should you take now to build an agile customer-centric business?

In the second session, we’ll discuss what financial services firms need to do differently to prepare for April 2023. We’ll outline how to use customer data, analytics and insights to build an agile customer-centric business, one that creates greater value for your customers and fulfils the (evidence-based) requirements set out by the FCA. We’ll explain why it’s critical to dig deeper into your customer segments to ensure fair value is being delivered to each.
