The Insight Reckoning
Keynote by Dr Jack Lewis - The decision dilemma
Where we are now – and where we are heading next
From insight to influence
Welcome:
The Insight Reckoning – the new balancing act
How do leaders make confident, evidence-based decisions in a world of data overload, misinformation, and AI-blurred realities? We’ll explore the concept of ‘decision distress’—and why, despite increasing chaos and disruption, this is the perfect time for insight teams to step up, redefine their role, and help drive faster, smarter, and more trusted decisions.
Session 1:
The decision dilemma: how to think straight in a messy world
In this energising keynote, Dr Jack Lewis will explore how the brain really makes decisions—and where it often goes wrong. He’ll explain why gut instinct can mislead in unfamiliar situations, and how GenAI and information overload can fuel false confidence. Jack will challenge insight teams to think differently about the role they play—not just in providing data, but in helping decision-makers cut through noise, avoid cognitive traps, and act with greater clarity and confidence
Session 2:
Where we are now – and where we are heading next:
This interactive session gives attendees the chance to reflect, contribute, and connect. We’ll explore where insight teams stand today—what’s working, what’s not, and what’s needed next. Using findings from a recent STRAT7 study as a starting point, we’ll open the floor for discussion, challenge assumptions, and map out shared priorities. Expect to hear fresh perspectives and practical ideas that will set the stage for the solutions-focused final session.
Session 3:
From insight to influence – Practical steps for shaping strategy and staying ahead
In the final session, we’ll bring together the themes from the day and explore what they mean for the future of insight. We’ll share practical ways insight teams are stepping up—moving beyond informing decisions to actively shaping strategy. We’ll look at how tools like AI, agile planning, and new models of customer-centricity are helping teams navigate uncertainty, influence decisions at pace, and become indispensable to their organisation’s future.

Jack has a first-class degree in neuroscience from the University of Nottingham, received his doctorate from University College London and went on to present a variety of science TV shows for the BBC, ITV, Discovery, Sky and Curiosity Stream.
His best-selling book Sort Your Brain Out has helped thousands of people all over the world to get more out of their brains on a daily basis and he’s shared this topic live on stage with dozens of international audiences, from Miami to Prague. His latest book The Science of Sin, recently translated into Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese and Spanish, provides neuroscientific insights into how each of the “7 deadly sins” help in moderation, harm only in excess and all of which have been leveraged to boost sales.
As a keynote speaker and consultant, Dr Jack helped Deloitte add £100 million to their bottom line with a talk for the team that pitched for the global Tesco Auditing business on The Neuroscience of Decision Making. On the basis of that success he was invited to share these insights with Central European teams in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Once audiences understand how brains really make decisions, it is so much easier to get a client to reach the decision you want them to make. This talk is extremely popular with finance and sales Teams.
Dr Jack worked with ITV Global’s senior leadership team, heads of development and middle management, across seven consecutive events, to help foster a culture of creativity through his Science of Creativity talk. He shares evidence-based insights into strategies that genuinely boost creative problem solving and others that, while hugely popular, don’t actually work; like Brain Storming. This talk is often paired with a 30-min interactive session that runs delegates through a scientifically valid method of creative ideation that Jack calls: The Brain Shake.
Dr Jack’s talks on Building Resilience and Technology on the Brain have always gone down extremely well with Education Sector audiences keen to do more to look after their own brains while under stress, as well as those of the young people in their care.
There is so much neuroscience research being published every year in the peer-reviewed science literature that the sky’s the limit when it comes to possible topics. Delivered in plain English, with infectious enthusiasm and a deep scientific basis, Dr Jack’s talks always go down brilliantly whether the audience is 10 or 1000 strong.
